Campbell is a filmmaker, photographer and audio producer who trained as a violist at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He has spent over a decade in classical music as a performer, producer and orchestra manager, and currently works with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra alongside running Zip Tie Studio.
That background means he knows how sessions, rehearsals and concerts actually work from the inside: what musicians need, where the pressure points are, and when to stay out of the way. His clients include Pentatone, Dunedin Consort, Scottish Ensemble, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Scottish Young Musicians.
Audio Engineer & Producer
Matthew is a record producer, sound engineer and audio editor with wide experience across the recorded classical music industry. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, his work spans the full range of the repertoire, from early music on period instruments to premiere recordings of contemporary works, and has featured in Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine and on BBC Radio 3.
His experience in realising the ideas of musicians and composers has led to chart-topping recordings and nominations from the leading international music press. Described by independent producer Andrew Keener as a natural in the recording studio, an empathetic presence whose people skills are as astute as those of his musicianship, Matthew brings rigour, warmth and genuine musical understanding to every session.
